It's a subgenre of ecohorror in which fungi--especially mushrooms, spores, and mycelial networks--are the source of fear, pandemics, transformation, decay, and blurring of boundaries between the human and the monstrous unknown. From the creeping dread of fungal infection in apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic storytelling to the mycelial networks imagined as alternative social systems, mushrooms and molds haunt and hunt humanity. Formed in 2023, Theoretical Blonde is a 5-piece bluegrass-adjacent band from Salt Lake City with a sound that feels both familiar and refreshingly unexpected. Its members include Peter Cain (mandolin, vocals), Ford Huntington (Guitar, vocals), Grayson Wickel (Fiddle, Banjo, vocals), Patrick McNally (Bass, vocals), and Daniel McNally (Keys). Despite the name, none of the band members are actually blonde, which seems to be a fun little misdirect. What is true is that their music takes cues from bluegrass, jazz, americana, country, jam band, and singer-songwriter traditions, blending these styles into a dynamic and energetic mix. With the addition of keys and electric bass, they expand the traditional bluegrass palette, creating a fuller sound that's as comfortable with intricate picking as it is with laid-back, groove-driven jams. The group doesn't try to be tied to one sound or genre; instead, they focus on making music that's genuine, without worrying about where it fits in the larger landscape.Website

Amidst the chaos of 2020, Los Angeles singer-songwriter Anahita Skye escaped to the Utah mountains of her childhood in search of solace. While visiting a local live music venue in Park City, she found something unexpected; Rick Gerber, a prolific singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and frontman of Badfeather performing with depth, gravity, and a reminiscence of the late Chris Cornell. Fate intervened and Skye sat down next to Gerber, and at his request, she was invited to take the stage and sing a few songs. The room immediately took notice of her presence, and fell silent as her powerful and emotive voice carried the audience through her songs. This moment changed both artists' trajectories, making them fast friends and collaborators.
After corresponding states apart, the two performers formed Skye and Crow.
Both artists have had a long history of their own journeys as solo artists, songwriters, with an accretion of many bands between them.
Inspired by Dolly Parton, Mazzy Star, and Tom Petty, they quickly dominated the Utah music scene.
Performing and writing together, they warm the stage with their complementary voices, powerful stage presence and musical depth. They released their first EP together, entitled "Lost in the Tides of a Dream" on September 6, 2024.Facebook

Let's get into good trouble together--of the non-alcoholic sort, of course. In this workshop, we'll explore explosive truths and realities through writing. Writing has long been an act of radical defiance, and we'll explore how personal stories of struggle, despair, hope, and change can fuel our collective fire. Together, we'll reclaim the power of our anger, dismantle the tired messages that try to water it down, and use our words to ignite imaginations and amplify our voices. Whether you're drawn to poetry, essays, or fiction, this is your chance to pour your resistance, despair, hope, and possibilities for the future onto the page--served chilled, stirred, or on the rocks--with a twist of rebellion.
